Our apparently not-so-adventerous "secret adventure"

Jack came home from Portland with us to go to cub scout day camp with Lucas. They have had a blast and done some pretty cool things. To add to the week we decided we'd go to the Mariner's game Tuesday night as part of the LDS family night, but we didn't tell the boys. Instead the night before I said we were going on a "secret adventure" and that they had better be prepared. The next night after dinner we packed into the car and took off for our adventure with the boys excitedly trying to guess where we were going. When we parked and started walking to Safeco field, Lucas finally got the hint and guessed, a baseball game? "Yes, we're going to Mariner's Game!!" You'd think that it would a fun surprise right? We were met with silence. Long faces. "I thought we were going on an adventure like a scavenger hunt," was all Lucas could say. And Jack muttered, "I thought we were going on a hike or something." There was even a tear or two. Apparently "secret adventure" was not the right choice of words and conjured up too much excitement for a measly little baseball game. But they bravely faced their disappointment and I think actually even enjoyed themselves...after we bought them cotton candy and giant snow cones and they got their free hats. What troopers.
